The inspiration for these horror haikus is real, but so is your impact on the world.
I have not been able to write. Not while the burden of everything happening in the U.S. weighs so heavily on my heart.
I’ve written some horror haikus here that I wish were not based on actual events, but they are. The horrors are real, but we are not without hope.
Take care of yourselves during this difficult time, and be there for those in your community however you can.
It matters.
Every little form of support matters, even if it doesn’t seem like it.
Soft
Soft stuffed animals
bear witness from the glove box:
Destruction and death.

Last words
I’m not mad at you,
and are you okay, are not
words of terrorists.

Lamplight
Mother of Exiles,
we turned your good name to a
patina of shame.

Consequence
The blood on his jowls,
though he tries to lick it clean,
paints the new dawn red.

Allegory
You have seen only
shadows and echoes of truth.
Come out of the cave.

Coalesce
There is still room to
stand for our freedom; it’s not
too late. There is room.

We can do things to help. Would you like to help Minnesotans, for example? Here are some places to start:
Stand with Minnesota - This is a directory of places to donate.
5 Calls - This website makes it easy to contact your U.S. representatives.
TC Trans Mutual Aid - This organization strives to support and amplify the material needs of trans folks in the Twin Cities, Minnesota.
Thank you for reading.
I will continue to write.
