Anthology Cover Sneak Peek & Current Works in Progress
Hello! I wanted to give my followers a quick update of what I've been working on.
My last post discussed my decision to journey into self-publishing for my novel, but before I take that step I have a few pitstops I want to take along the way that will help lay the groundwork for that novel to launch.
One of these is an exciting new project that takes advantage of my previous and in-progress work, a horror anthology.
Yep, you heard me right! I’m planning to publish a horror anthology containing all horror stories by yours truly. They focus is on stories with female protagonists which, let’s be honest, is most of what I write anyway.
I even started designing a cover draft for this project. I’ll let you see a little bit before the big reveal in the future! The working title is Dreadful Dozen, for there will be twelve tales in all. I won’t show you the whole cover yet, because I’m still working on it. But here’s a little peek.
To make the (mostly obscured) cover above, I learned some neat photoshop tricks through trial and error. I love the way the leaves curl around the letters. I took inspiration from many modern covers before I put my own spin on it for my design.
So, I’ll be working on editing those stories and hopefully will have great news to share about the anthology really soon.
The only other new thing to share is that you can now subscribe to my weekly digest of new and interesting words that I’ve come across, with definitions and images. Check it out at Word Nerding with K.M. Bennett.
In the meantime, stay spooky and thank you for following my writing adventures!
This looks great. I self-published on Amazon in 2009 after they debuted KDP. I wrote a collection in order to test the waters and am publishing it here now, in addition to other novels. Personally I'm trying to use Substack as a launch pad for new work, prior to Amazon. So perhaps set a pre-order date for the book release there, as the algo likes that.
I'd like to hear how you balance the marketing for your various genres, as I'm in the same boat. I write everything from horror to SF to YA to children's.
Congratulations. Great cover.
